For centuries this community has hosted visitors from every corner of the world. Home to one of the most beautiful natural wonders in God’s creation, Niagara Falls, New York now stands ready to enter one of the truly exciting periods in its history.

Our people are continuing to “re-connect” with their past, a saga which includes everything from the introduction of hydro-electric power to meeting the challenges of jet age aviation. At the same time, this community has used its diversity not as a source of conflict but as a beacon of hope. Ethnic and neighborhood festivals have allowed our citizens to share their histories, better appreciating each other’s heritage.

As so many of our neighbors in the Northeastern United States, Niagara Falls, New York endured a period when countless industrial jobs moved elsewhere. Together, this City and its people survived these difficult times and now, once again, stand eager to welcome the world to our doorstep.

This community is strengthened by the progress that remains on the horizon and grateful for the partnership formed with our friends of the Seneca Nation. In downtown Niagara Falls you are within walking distance of a Las Vegas-class casino and moments away from the Oldest State Park in the United States.

When I became Mayor of this City in January, 2004, I did so with commitments to improving the quality of life for our residents, while at the same time enhancing the experiences of our 15 million annual visitors. In a few short months, through the dedication of our business community and the concern of our residents, one senses the excitement of a “new day” in Niagara Falls, New York.

This City remains a City of proud people, a people encouraged by the development of today and rightfully proud of our place in history. I am honored to serve as Mayor of this City and equally honored to serve as its ambassador to the guests who experience the resources of the Niagara Falls area.
